Battlefield Usage

Battlefield Reservations

To schedule any activity on the Main Battlefield or other combat-related area (Tourney lists, Rapier lists, Woods, Fort, Archery Range, Youth Combat area) you must fill out the Battlefield Reservation Request form.

You will need the following information:

  • Name and description of your activity
  • The group you are camping with
  • The group sponsoring the activity [must be an official SCA group, not a household]
  • Estimated number of participants
  • Amount of time needed [include setup and cleanup times]
  • Any special entry requirements [age limits, fees, donations, special weapons, armor, etc.]
  • Three choices of days and times
The final deadline for submitting a battlefield usage request will be May 15th.

The person in charge of battlefield scheduling is Lord Gilebert le Bracceur de Dijon .

Rapier list usage requests

To schedule activities in the rapier list section of the battlefield, contact Don Antonio Patriquin, the Marshal in Charge of Rapier Combat.

Parking on the battlefield

There will be NO PARKING on the battlefield again this year except for the following:

Hay Bales

Hay bales are placed on the field for boundary marking and saftey zones. They may not be moved into Personal or Royal pavilions or used for any personal purpose. Tents found utilizing Pennsic property may be subject to being dropped and removed.

Tents on the battlefield

Royalty Tents may be placed on the east and west ends of the battlefield. Please request your space using the Royal Pavilion Reservation Form, and Battlefield staff will do their best to assign you a location that meets your needs. Tents may not be set up anywhere on the field before 8:00 am on Wednesday, July 30th.

Individual/Household tents may be placed on the east and west ends of the battlefield. Areas approved for personal tents will be marked and will be available for set up on a first-come, first-served basis, starting at 8:00 am on Wednesday, July 30th. Personal tents may be placed near the rapier lists with the Rapier Marshal's approval only.

No tents may be placed on the north or south sides of the field.

All tents on the battlefield must be labelled with a tent information card (available from Information Point or a member of the battlefield staff) detailing name and camping location of the owner. This is mostly for your protection and that of your belongings if it becomes necessary to drop a tent for any reason.

If you have any special requests please contact the battlefield coordinator.

Volunteers

It takes, on average, 250-300 man-hours over two weeks for the Main Battlefield to be set-up, moved, and torn down, in addition to the hours that marshals spend making sure the battles are safe and fun. Please think about volunteering some of your time for either or both. It is not all strenuous work, and the more people we have, the less difficult it becomes. If you come to Pennsic to fight, please donate a bit of your time to help so that you, and all the other fighters, can have fun on the field.
