Thrown Weapons

The Thrown Weapons range will again be located near the Fort. The marshals are more than willing to teach new people to throw and there will be loaner equipment available, so not having your own equipment should not deter you from coming to the range. As long as the range and safety rules are followed, everyone over the age of 5 will be allowed to throw. Youths less than 12 years of age will need to bring a parent or guardian with them to the range. The parent/guardian will have to stay with them while they are at the range.

In order for all throwers from all kingdoms to come out and play, we will be using the Society Thrown Weapon Rules rather than the East, Æthelmearc or Middle Kingdom rules.

There will be a smaller "teaching" range available for classes and teaching only. If a competition is running, we can still teach beginners how to throw. To man all of the ranges so they can all be open the majority of the time we will need marshals. Marshals-In-Training (MITs) are always welcome, and the East and Middle are planning thrown weapons marshal classes. Check the thrown weapons range to see if your kingdom is planning a MIT class.

For the range to be open, a minimum of two unrelated adults, one being a TW marshal, must be on the range. There will also be a flag system in place. If the range is open, a green flag will be raised. If you are available and wish to help set-up, please feel free to do so; the more hands the lighter and faster the work, which equals more time to play.

The Marshal in Charge of Thrown Weapons at Pennsic 37 is Lord Leon the Navigator. His deputy is Lord Colin MacKenzie.
