Thrown Weapons

The Thrown Weapons range will again be located on the Battlefield near the Fort.

The Marshal in Charge of Thrown Weapons at Pennsic 39 is Lord Leon the Navigator.

Rules

In order for all throwers from all kingdoms to come out and play, we will be using Society Thrown Weapon Rules rather than the East, Æthelmearc or Middle Kingdom rules.

Teaching

The marshals are more than willing to teach new people to throw, and walk-ins are welcome any time marshals are available. This means even if you can't make a beginners' (or advanced) class, we're willing to teach you what you need.

There will be a smaller "teaching" range available for classes and teaching only. If a competition is running, we can still teach beginners how to throw.

Youths

As long as the range and safety rules are followed, everyone over the age of 5 will be allowed to throw. Youths less than 12 years of age will need to bring a parent or guardian with them to the range. The parent/guardian will have to stay with them while they are at the range.

Marshals

To man all of the ranges so they can all be open the majority of the time we will need marshals. Marshals-In-Training (MITs) are encouraged to help, and both the East and Middle are planning thrown weapons marshal classes. Check the thrown weapons range to see if your kingdom is planning a MIT class.

The Range

Range hours: 9 am - 6 pm from Sat., August 6 through Fri., August 13th (closing at 1 pm on the 13th).

We will try to have the range set up and ready to go by Wed., August 4th. Before August 6th, the range will be open whenever marshals are available.

For the range to be open, a minimum of two adults, one being a TW marshal, must be on the range. There will also be a flag system in place. If the range is open, a green flag will be raised. If you are available and wish to help set-up, please feel free to do so. Many hands make light work, which equals more time to play.
