Martial Activities

Bring your authorization card to Pennsic!
All Fighters, Combat Archers, and Siege Engineers must have their authorization cards with them at Pennsic. No card, no participation, no exceptions!!! You must present it when you are inspected, along with your site medallion and a photo id. (If your card does not arrive before you leave for Pennsic, you can bring your original dated paper authorization form.)
  • The Woods Battle has changed location.

  • In general, there is no parking/driving on the battlefield (see exceptions). Please make arrangements ahead of time for getting fighters, gear, water, etc. up to the field for battle days. Parking or stopping along Currie Road is not an alternative.

  • There will be water on the field for all War Point battles, and also at the Woods battle. Baroness Morwenna Trevethan is the Waterbearer in charge.

  • The policy for placing tents on the battlefield can be found on the Battlefield Usage page.

  • During Pennsic, please check the signboards for any changes to the battle/tourney schedules.

  • If you need to locate a member of the Battlefield or Martial Staff, stop by Information Point and they will assist you.

Authorizations

All fighters, rapier combatants, combat archers, and siege engineers who wish to participate in the battles at Pennsic 39 must authorize prior to War.

Fighters must have a primary authorization by July 24th (the weekend before the beginning of Land-grab weekend). Secondary authorizations must occur by August 9.

16-17 Year Old Combatants

Inspection

All Minors (16 and 17 year olds) who hold Authorization cards in their Kingdom and wish to fight or fence at Pennsic War 39, must present themselves and their credentials, along with their Parent(s)/Legal guardian(s) for Armor Inspection.
•  Minors may only be inspected at Marshals' Point / Rapier Marshals' Point and only by the Senior Marshal in charge of the Point.
•  No one can inspect minors in camps.
•  Parents MUST be present at time of Inspection.

Marking Minors' Armor (new rules as of 7/17)

For Armored Combat: Helmets of all minors combating with adults are to be marked with a single yellow 1" diamond to be placed directly above the inspection sticker. (Yellow Duct Tape is acceptable for marking.) Minors' inspection stickers must be marked with the word "MINOR".

For Rapier Combat: The dominant weapon hand glove of all minors competing with adults will be marked with a 1 inch diamond on the cuff of the glove. Minors' inspection stickers must be marked with the word "MINOR".

Secondary Authorizations

Kingdoms wishing to authorize fighters in secondary authorizations must have a marshal present at the Marshals' Point, with the required paperwork for their kingdom. Qualification bouts will be fought on the list just in front of the Marshals' tent and during posted inspection hours only.

Inspection

Combattants should plan on getting inspected early to help ease the workloads of our marshals. Or please consider volunteering to help out with inspections!

Inspection Point will be open Wednesday, Aug 4 through Friday, Aug 13, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.

The tent will close 15 minutes before each mass battle, 30 minutes before the woods battle, to allow time for everyone to get to the battlefield on time. It will remain open during the Champions' Battles at the discretions of the Earls Marshal of the East and the Middle, provided there are sufficient volunteers.
