Battlefield Usage
Scheduling Events on the Battlefield
All use of the battlefield or Fort must be prearranged through the Battlefield Scheduler.
This includes all tournaments, martial activies/demonstrations, parties/socials, classes, vigils, etc.
The deadline for submitting battlefield usage requests was July 15th .
Volunteers
Please consider volunteering some of your time to help out! If you come to Pennsic to fight, please donate a bit of your time to help so
that you, and all the other fighters, can have fun on the field.
We need:
Marshals
Description: Marshalling the War Point battles to keep the participants and spectators safe.
Requirements: must be a Marshal. During battles with combat archery, must wear protective shatterproof eyewear (as per Society Marshal's Handbook).
Set up and Clean up
It takes, on average, 250-300 man-hours over two weeks for the Battlefield to be set-up, repositioned for each War Point, and torn down.
It is not all strenuous work, and the more people we have, the less difficult it becomes.
Waterbearers
Mornings - 1.5 hours before the start of each day's War Point battles (both rapier and armored) to fill and distribute water bottles.
Afternoons - a few hours after each day's final battle, to collect, clean and refill bottles.
Use of the Battlefield
No official Pennsic tents may be used for private functions – e.g. for vigils, parties/socials, as shade for tournaments, etc.
Hay bales are placed on the field for boundary marking and safety zones.
They may not be moved into pavilions or used for any personal purpose. Doing so can negate future field use privileges.
Tents found using Pennsic property may be subject to being dropped and removed.
It is the responsibility of the hosting group to clean the designated area following use. Failure to do so will result in revocation of future field use privileges.
Cars on the battlefield
There will be NO PARKING on the battlefield again this year except for the following:
Handicapped or reserved parking designated by the Coopers.
Limited permits for those setting up or taking down field pavilions.
Siege weapon parking.
Limited parking for those who reserved a timeslot for a tourney.
Cars/vehicles are not to be brought onto the field for any purpose without an official car pass. Please plan accordingly as there are a limited quantitiy of passes.
Tents on the battlefield
Tents may not be set up anywhere on the field until 8:00 am on Wednesday, August 1st.
All tents on the battlefield must be labelled
with a tent information card listing the name and camping location of the owner.
This is mostly for your protection and that of your belongings if it becomes
necessary to drop a tent for any reason. Tent tags can be obtained from Information Point.
Royalty Tents may be placed on the South side of the battlefield.
Please contact the Deputy Mayor of Martial Activities to reserve a space.
All other tents must be placed on the East and West ends of the
battlefield. Areas approved for personal tents will be marked and will be available for
set up on a first-come, first-served basis.
Personal tents may be placed near the rapier lists with the Rapier Marshal's approval only.
No tents may be placed on the North sides of the field.
