About transporting firewood

Invasive pests such as Emerald Ash Borers, Gypsy Moths, Asian Longhorned Beetles, Sirex Wood Wasps, and Bark Beetles are easily spread when people move infested wood products.

From www.aphis.usda.gov: "It is up to all of us to contribute to the preservation of our Nation's forests by committing to not move firewood from where it is cut. By 'burning where you buy it' you can be sure that you're not accidentally moving these damaging forest pests into new areas. Movement of any type of firewood within Federal [EAB] quarantine boundaries (excluding protected areas) does not require Federal permits, but may require state permits." (see map)

Because of the complexities of which county, state, and international borders firewood can be transported across, we ask that everyone please bring only packaged, kiln-dried firewood from out-of-state, or purchase locally-grown firewood while at Pennsic. Please do not take locally-grown wood back to your home state with you.
