To Those Camping Without a Registered Land group (Singles / Individual Camping)
Greetings from the land office!
Each year, we have over 100 land blocks with somewhere in the area of 575 registered groups “playing Tetris” to fit within them. The final amount of available singles spaces on each block is known to us a bit before the start of Pennsic, but due to the need to wait for “Land grab” for all blocks to completely settle their land and agree on their borders (and thus where singles camping is), we do not have the needed information to allow singles campers on site until Sunday, July 27.
REGISTERING ON SITE
When you first arrive at Pennsic, you’ll be directed to park in registration parking and directed toward the registration tent where you will fill out your info, sign your waivers, pay your gate fee and receive your site medallion.
If you are a singles camper your land group will be “individual camping”
Once you complete your registration and receive your site medallion, you will need to find a spot to camp.
Pennsic can be a bit overwhelming for a first time singles attendee. There are some limited resources (maps showing general singles areas) but unless you’re experienced with singles camping at Pennsic and know the areas, you probably will want to avail yourself of the Land Office Singles Liaison.
SINGLES LIAISON
In the past, the Singles Liaison / Land office is located near the Great Hall on the southwest corner near Chandler’s and Dragon Trace. Starting this year, we have our own tent/office area which is on the South East corner of the Great Hall.
The office will be staffed from 8am to 6PM on the following days.
– Sunday, July 27
– Monday, July 28
– Friday, August 1
– Saturday, August 2
– Sunday, August 3
– Monday, August 4
If you arrive at another time, you can stop by the Watch tent and ask them to radio for Singles Liaison.
ARRIVAL TIME (IMPORTANT)
Finding a suitable spot to set up requires that you locate a spot of singles camping. One can’t set up just anywhere as there are non camping areas as well as groups which have not yet had all their campers arrive. (Registered groups should have already marked out their borders during land grab, but still there can be an “art” to the process of finding an open spot)
This process takes a bit of time – you’ll need to look over the available maps and possibly discuss your desires (do you want to be closer to the battlefield or merchants or in a quiet secluded area or near the more active “nightlife” areas etc…)
And even when you look at the map and see that there is available singles camping where you’d like to go, until you’ve laid eyes on it and seen if there are ditches, slopes, trees, swamp nauga, etc.. you may find you need to make changes.
TL;DR: is you want to be doing this during daylight. While registration is open until 10pm most nights, there are sections of road that are closed off to cars overnight, and it’s REALLY Hard to see what you’re doing to set up at night
PLEASE IF POSSIBLE PLAN TO ARRIVE BEFORE 6PM WHEN THERE”S ENOUGH DAYLIGHT LEFT TO FIND A SPOT AND GET SET UP.
If you arrive later, the land office may ask you to set up in a tempoarary location for the night, and then come and seek us out to assist with a more suitable placement the next morning.
Please take time to review both the Pennsic rules and the Land rules as they pertain to Individual Campers (Singles)

LAND RULES FOR INDIVIDUAL CAMPERS
https://land.pennsicwar.org/docs_rules.php#individuals
INDIVIDUALS
Every person who pre-registers for Pennsic with a paid pre-registration will have 250 square feet assigned to their designated group. If no group is designated by the close of the pre-registration period, the registration shall be moved to “Individual Camping” and while the space will be reserved, the registrant will need to select their space from the available Single Camping areas once they are opened to Single campers after Land Grab is completed. Persons paying their registration upon arrival will be allocated 250 square feet in one of the available Single Camping areas.
If you will not be camping with a group, please see “Information for Single Campers” below.
All those who wish to camp in the designated Accessible Camping area must register with Cooper’s Lake Campground by the pre-registration deadline. Select the land group “DISABILITIES CAMPING,” once you have received permission to camp from the Accessibility Camping Coordinator. To receive permission to camp in Accessible Camping, you must communicate with the Accessibility Camping Coordinator at email address accessibility@pennsicwar.org by the Accessibility Services Registration deadline.
Those who are considering use of an RV must contact the Cooper’s Lake Campground directly before pre-registering as the Land Office does not coordinate RV camping. (When pre-registering, please select the Land Group “RV CAMPING.”) Please note that an RV, in this case, is defined as a registered motor vehicle.
It is expected that campers will camp with their designated group in the location where they are pre-registered. If this is not possible the camper must inform Troll and the Watch so that the new location is accurately recorded for emergency purposes.
Pre-registered group campers will not be allowed to use space in singles camping areas. They must camp within the boundaries of their registered group.
INFORMATION FOR SINGLE CAMPERS
Single campers are those individuals or families who are not registered / did not pre-register with a registered group. People who arrive together may camp together.
No space can/shall be held by anyone for Individual Campers (pre-registered) or Single Campers. These spaces are first come, first served.
Single campers may ONLY camp in areas designated as singles camping space. These are the unoccupied areas remaining in certain blocks after the pre-registered groups have established their borders.
Single campers should not arrive before Sunday of Land Grab weekend (Sunday, July 27, 2025).
Individual Campers who wish to arrive on Friday or Saturday of Land Grab weekend must have pre-registered with the campground, and must fill out a Group Registration form, using their SCA name as the “Group” name. They will participate in the Land Grab process with the other Land Agents and should continue reading through the information for Land Agents as well as the guidance available in A Handbook for Pennsic Land Agents.
There will be maps at Registration (Formerly Troll) and Information Point, indicating where the Single Camping areas are located after all registered encampments have finalized their maps.
In addition, there is a Singles Liaison desk at the land tent, located just outside of the the South West corner of the Great Hall. The Singles Liaison office will be staffed during the busiest times for singles arrivals (Sunday and Monday of Peace Week, and during middle weekend) where our singles liaison may be able to assist you. If you’re a singles camper and require assistance in finding a spot and the land office / singles liaison desk is not staffed, you can ask the watch to radio the Singles Liaison.
Everyone who pays a registration fee is allocated 250 square feet, but may choose to accept less.
Single Camping areas should be populated from the perimeter (as permitted by geography and environmental conditions), moving toward the center. If you are the first to arrive in a single camping area, please set up your camp around the perimeter of the space, leaving room for others to fill in. If there are multiple tents to be set up for a small group of single campers wishing to camp together, those tents should be placed contiguously within the square footage allocated by the number of paid registrations. (Number of campers x 250 sq ft.) If these guidelines are not followed, Land Staff reserves the right to require you to move your tent, in order to make the best use of the space.
It is expected that campers will camp in the location where they are registered, if this is not possible the camper must inform Registration (Formerly Troll) and the Watch so that the new location is accurately recorded for emergency purposes.
Pre-Registered group campers will not be allowed to use space in single camper areas. They must camp within the boundaries of their registered group.
It is STRONGLY ADVISED to plan on arriving with plenty of daylight left in the day to allow time to review available singles camping spots, get to your spot, unload and get set up. While registration is open until 10pm, you really want to plan to arrive by 6pm if you want to avail yourself of the singles liaison assistance and be able to find a suitable spot. Those who arrive later in the day may be placed in a temporary spot assigned by the land office for the evening and then get relocated properly during daylight.
