The Pennsic War

Designed as a Medieval "War" between the Kingdoms of the East and the Middle of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Pennsic is also the largest SCA event, with activities include large melee battles, tournaments, archery, stage performances, dancing, and hundreds of classes on medieval topics.

Good Gentles!

Greetings and salutations, friends. I just wanted to post a quick reminder that this is the Official Pennsic War social media Facebook page. While there are a lot of great pages out there who re-post our items here, for the most up-to-date answers and official responses, please reach out to us through this page.

Lots of great posts planned for the coming weeks in advance of Pennsic 53! We will be posting a YouTube page, where we will have various videos around our Youth Mentorship program and new Registration Building progress and check-in process. Also keep an eye out on our Instagram and (with luck!) a Discord channel.

We will continue to add links for our Social Media platforms as any are developed. If you have comments or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out here in Messenger or at our email at socialmedia@pennsicwar.org.

Looking forward to seeing you all again in a few months!

It has come to our attention that there may be some confusion regarding the Pennsic 53 Music Program, and we would like to take a moment to help clarify a few details.

Time Blocks:

We’re planning to schedule musical acts from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon) and again starting at 8:00 PM, running from Wednesday of Peace Week through Wednesday of War Week. These aren’t the only times the amphitheater is available for music—just the main time slots we’re organizing for performances.

Who will be performing:

Many of our staff members have reached out to performers they’ve come to know through attending Pennsic over the years. That said, we know there are many talented musicians we haven’t had the chance to connect with yet!

If you’re interested in applying for one of these time slots, we’d love to hear from you—please email us at Music53@pennsicwar.org.

If those scheduled times don’t quite fit your plans but you’d still like to hold a musical act at the Amphitheater, you’re very welcome to submit your performance through Thing.

Other activities at the Amphitheater:

The schedule has been carefully developed to minimize conflicts with other activities, drawing on traditional time slots and usage patterns from previous years. As with any new initiative, some adjustments may be necessary, and our staff is committed to working with participants to accommodate needs whenever possible.

To schedule a performance or rehearsal in the Amphitheater, please submit your request through Thing. If your requested time is unavailable, a staff member will contact you to discuss alternative options.

Why Musicians:

This project is a true labor of love from the Mayor, a fellow musician, who wanted to create a space where the many different musical styles of Pennsic could come together and shine. We know there are incredible artists throughout the Society, and our goal is to give them a welcoming stage—especially those who might not have considered performing in this kind of setting before.

If you still have concerns, please reach out to Baroness Katerina at dmcultural@pennsicwar.org.
