Greetings from all your friends at Pennsic University, we’ve been very quiet lately, but that is because we have had a lot of upgrades in the works! So far this year we have rolled out some changes for system admins, track coordinators, and teachers, but our dev team has been working on a number of other upgrades! :
● Optimized for mobile devices and simplified the interface
● Location links/maps in the class search and calendar entries. Just click the link and it opens the map
● Sync Thing with your Google and iCal (Apple) calendar and it will automatically update. You may get an “unverified” error during the syncing process, we are aware of this and are working w/ Pennsic IT to address this, but the process still works despite the error.
● Your schedule has been added to your dashboard.
o Classes you are teaching and taking are clearly identified
o Clicking on a class on your dashboard will bring up all the class info
● SMS messaging to remind you 30 minutes before a class in your personal schedule starts
● We now have the ability to post announcements on Thing when there are major changes
● We have grouped classes in the class list so now you don’t see 12 listings of 1 class unless you expand the class by clicking on the + sign in front of the class name
● You can now search for classes within a specific date range
● And last but not least, we have an interactive, crowd-sourced Pennsic Map viewable by everyone whether you log into Thing or not. Head to thing.pennsicuniversity.org/locations/find and search for your destination by name, or browse the dropdown to explore what’s out there. Camps, merchants, landmarks — if it’s been added to the map, you’ll find it in seconds. Are you a Thing user with a camp, merchant tent, or landmark that deserves a pin? Submit it! It’s quick, It’s simple, and it helps every single person on site! Once you submit a location, it will go through a verification and approval process and will then be added to the list.
