Martial Activities would like to share a reminder about heat and air quality.
All martial activities will be shutting down if the Heat Index hits 103°F and/or the AQI reaches 200. This call will be made by Marshal 1 and/or the Deputy Mayor for Martial Activities., using the OSHA-NIOSH Heat Safety Tool app as guidance. We will also evaluate whether or not activity should continue if the AQI hits 150.
Youth Rapier will also be monitoring air quality using EPA AirNow. If the Air Quality Index reaches orange, Youth Combat will issue a warning so parents and guardians can make informed decisions for their child’s health.
If the Air Quality Index reaches red, the Youth Rapier regular list will close until further notice.
A life flight having to land on the battlefield is an emergency and all combat must stop. Event Safety and Martial Activities Staff Departments will guide people where they need to go to clear out of the way of the helicopter.
Thank you for helping us keep everyone informed and safe!
